Introducing the World of Ancient Christianity
to Faith Communities of Today
Christianity was born and grew up in the Greco-Roman world of the ancient Mediterranean basin. When the new religion met the ancient culture, there was an explosion of spiritual and artistic and social energies, the shock waves from which are still being felt around the globe.
I am a life-long Christian and I have worked in these worlds for most of my life, as a professor of classics with a focus on Greco-Roman, early Christian and Byzantine art and archaeology. I know the languages, the literatures, the philosophies and the cultures. My mission in retirement is to help Christians of today to deepen their understanding of their faith through sharing with them my experience of this fascinating era almost two thousand years ago when our Faith took shape.
I am an experienced lecturer and I deal comfortably with groups of any size and of any age from junior high school to senior citizens. No one needs special knowledge of the ancient world or the early Church to enjoy my talks.
